Listening Is An Act of Love

Some time ago I heard a segment on NPR about StoryCorp, a non-profit working to record and share stories of people's lives. A book containing some of the recorded stories has been published and is titled "Listening is an Act of Love". Because recording booths are not readily available to most people the group offers help for those who want to record on their own.

At our home we have a small version of asking others to share about themselves...it is a "favorites" journal. We make it available to our friends and family and it's so much fun to read entries years apart and learn how we change but how we stay the same.

My impending move to Alaska has inspired me to sit down with each of my children and other family members to record answers to questions that allow me to learn more about them. Ryan is leaving at O'Dark Thirty tomorrow morning to go back to Salsalito so today is my last chance to record with him face-to-face before he leaves on his sailing adventure.

If you're interested in learning more about StoryCorp and find help with recording the stories of your loved ones, please visit: http://www.storycorps.net/

It's kind of hard to find on the site but a list of questions can be found at: http://www.storycorps.net/record-your-story/question-generator/list
